About d.

About d. [dee dot] dundalk.ca

dundalk.ca is the online version of the Dundalk & District Community Guide (D&DCG -1998).  The D&DCG evolved into the Southgate & District Community Guide in 2001 at the request of the new Township of Southgate. This online version provides a lot more information and offers residents a superior level of user interactivity.

dundalk.ca is a content management portal. It provides unbeatable access to information about anything and everything in our community. And being a true community website, it provides residents with exclusive permissions to publish content to the site.

So what is a portal?
A portal is a single point of access to all types of information.

To help you visualize this imagine that dundalk.ca is the single point of access and, anything that Southgate residents want to find in the community is the information.

Portals generally fall into two major classifications: the enterprise information portal and the content management portal.

Enterprise Information Portals - bring together information from a number of sources. The users do not typically publish content to the portal, they simply use information which has been prepared and published by others.

Content Management Portals - are designed to improve access to information and the sharing of information. In a content management portal, self-service publishing features allow users to post content to the site.

dundalk.ca is a content management portal designed to help residents find whatever they are looking for in Dundalk & District and the Township of Southgate.

Dundalk

Dundalk - The Village of Dundalk

Welcome to the Village of Dundalk in beautiful southern Ontario.
Located on Highway 10 north of Orangeville, between Shelburne & Flesherton, at an altitude of 1735 feet above sea level, you might think of Dundalk as being the closest place to heaven in Ontario!

Dundalk has come a long way in 160 years. 'Our forefathers carved thickly forested bush into a few productive acres and in turn into century farms. They engaged in the trades of livestock and wood products. And successful they were. Dundalk earned the reputation of being the busiest commercial train station on the Toronto-Owen Sound rail line'!

The train is gone now and the population has grown from eight hundred to two thousand. Commercial opportunities exist once again for the entrepreneurial spirit who sees the population moving north on Highway 10.

Working to develop and promote the quality of rural life, Dundalk is an ideal home for your family and your business. We have entered the 21st century abreast of the best, while maintaining our roots in agriculture! Come on up to the 'closest place to heaven' and come on in.. the door's open!

Southgate

Southgate - The Township of Southgate

The Township of Southgate was born on January 1, 2000.
It is the amalgamation of the Village of Dundalk, the Township of Proton and the Township of Egremont. Geographically, Southgate extends from Highway 10 in the east to Highway 6 in the west and from Highway 89 in the south to Varney at the north (approximately).

dundalk.ca was created for the residents of Southgate and all people living in close proximity to Southgate who use Dundalk or Southgate as their business, living and recreational hub.
